This year has seen some great singles being released, especially within Hip-Hop. To close out the year, we decided to rank the best singles of 2020.
10. Billie Eilish – Everything I Wanted

Elton John was onto something when he made the statement “talent like hers doesn’t come along very often”. The 19 year old singer/songwriter is undeniably a talented individual and ‘Everything I Wanted’ encompasses that. The songs chilling nature and beautiful lyrics stand out.
9. Future feat. Drake – Life Is Good

Life was good before march; Future continues to prophesise the future. ‘Life Is Good’ sees Drake and Future link up once again for another cultural moment, with the two complementing each other’s respective sounds on the track.
8. 24kgoldn feat. Iann Dior – Mood

XXL Freshmen 24Kgoldn has been one to watch, especially after 2019’s ‘Valentino’. The rapper’s boyish charm as well as Iann’s Rockstar persona brewed one of the catchiest tunes this year.
7. Chris Brown & Young Thug – Go Crazy

There is only three things promised in life, death, taxes and a Chris Brown hit. Chris’s ability to remain consistent throughout the last 15 years is a testament to how special he really is. ‘Go Crazy’ finds Breezy collaborate with Atlanta’s Young Thug on the lead single from their collaborative mixtape ‘Slime & B’ to deliver a record we always needed.
6. Arizona Zervas – Roxanne

If you turned on the radio during the summer, you definitely heard the name ‘Roxanne’ being mentioned everywhere. Arizona is a relatively new artist, who continues to prove the point that good music will always triumph regardless of clout. ‘Roxanne’ is a smooth record that embodies the perfect summer anthem.
5. Drake feat. Lil Durk – Laugh Now, Cry Later

Drake is no stranger to the song of the year title, with his 10 year dominance being only comparable to that of NBA superstar LeBron James. ‘Laugh Now, Cry Later’ is your typical Drake record; catchy choruses and Instagram captions. However, Drake enlisted Chicago driller Lil Durk for his first top 10 record on the charts.
4. Dababy feat. Roddy Ricch – Rockstar

Dababy seems to have found the formula for Billboard success since his breakout in 2019, the Charlotte rapper already has multiple top ten hits under his belt. It was only right that Dababy would call open Compton crooner Roddy Ricch; culminating the perfect trap – duet.
3. Lil Baby feat. 42 Dugg – We Paid

“fore I go broke like Joc”, I’m pretty sure you already knows what follows after. ‘We Paid’ is the biggest trap anthem this year from its quotable lyrics to its marketability on social media platforms like Tik Tok. Lil Baby has taken this year by storm and 2021 will follow suit.
2. Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncè – Savage (Remix)

Meg is unapologetically a ‘Hot Girl’, her blasé attitude towards men having a say on women’s sexuality has transformed the rapper into a female icon. Savage is a fun and sexy record that the Queen B couldn’t resist jumping on, hence its domination of the Billboard charts.
1b. Roddy Ricch – The Box

‘The Box’ dominated the charts earlier this year, Roddy’s authenticity could not be stopped by the likes of Justin Bieber nor Selena Gomez. Strangely enough the instrumental consist of Roddy crooning weird noises over 808’s, who would’ve expected that to be the subject of memes all over social media. Nonetheless, what is the ‘Box’ ?
1. Cardi B feat. Megan Thee Stallion – WAP

Although the entire world has been on lockdown for majority of the year, there is no denying that Cardi & Meg’s ‘Wap’ has been the talk of the town. From Ben Shapiro’s hilarious condemnation of the single to its frequent use within pop culture. Cardi & Meg singlehandedly made women across the globe feel sexually liberated. For this reason, WAP is undeniably the song of the year.
